Advanced features for catalogue users

Navigation using favourites
To make working with extensive catalogues more efficient, a new ‘Favourites’ feature has been implemented. Users can now set bookmarks at various levels – whether for entire catalogues, specific assemblies or individual BOM items. A star icon marks these favourites, which can be easily managed and accessed via a dedicated section in the catalogue selection.

Optimised display
The graphical view for part replacements has been redesigned to ensure an even clearer visual distinction.

Easy integration of circuit diagrams

One of the key new features is the ability to import and use circuit diagrams directly within SpareParts365. The system supports ‘smart’ PDF files from EPLAN or E3, as well as the XML format.

This feature offers:

  • Navigation via the page tree and reference codes (equipment tree).
  • The inclusion of hyperlinks from the PDF data as direct links to elements.
  • A search function that covers page titles and reference codes.

Please note: The integration of circuit diagrams requires a separate licence. If you are interested, please contact your account manager or our sales team.

Fine-tuning of permissions and environments

To provide more precise control over access to functions, the authorisation options have been expanded:

  • Printing functions: Two new permissions (“Print assembly” and “Print with sub-assemblies”) allow for detailed control over who is authorised to initiate print jobs. Existing role definitions should be checked for these new permissions.
  • Offline catalogue: The ‘ACCESS_CATALOG_OFFLINE_APP_DOWNLOAD’ permission now explicitly controls the display of the dialogue box for downloading the CatalogViewer Windows app.

Security update for environments
To ensure data integrity, the databases in the ‘Production’, ‘Backup’ and ‘Test’ environments are now read-only. In future, changes and data imports must primarily be carried out via the ‘Development’ environment, from where the release to the production environment or the copying to other environments is managed.

Configuration, Import and Interfaces

Import files
The import process has been expanded to include two new file types:

  • drawing_mat_references: Enables drawings to be linked globally to material numbers, independently of individual BOM items.
  • roles: The import file for roles has been updated to support the new print permissions.

Catalogue configuration

  • Design settings: The language for input fields in the ‘Texts and Documents’ section can now be changed centrally.
  • Virtual data fields: A new field, “VIRTUAL – ”, displays a preview (thumbnail) of the linked drawing in the bill of materials. Clicking on it opens the associated 2D and 3D documents.

Technical updates

  • Mail server: In addition to SMTPS/TLS, the “START-TLS” protocol is now also supported.
  • Plug-in Engine: The entry points for plug-ins have been expanded to improve communication with third-party systems. It is also possible to specify for each plug-in whether it should be active in the online or offline environment.

General optimisations

Based on feedback from our users, performance optimisations have been made in various areas. In addition, bug fixes have been implemented and the user interface has been further refined in a number of places.
